The Trinity College Scout Group will be celebrating its centenary in the year 2014. To celebrate this momentous milestone of serving the community the Scouts will organize a series of events leading to the ceremony in 2014. As a prelude of these events and to take the message around island, the scouts have planned a Bicycle tour around the island along the costal belt, titled “Around Sri Lanka in 12 Days”. The tour will start on the 7th of December from Kandy and will ride along the coastal area, in areas such as Puttalam, Mannar, Kanekasanthurai, Mulativu and Galle then back to Kandy on the final day.
The 17th Kandy Trinity Scouts are well known for their service to those in need and the celebrations planned for this centenary is planned in order to reach out to those in need.
The main objective of the cycle tour is to create awareness on cancer and raise funds for the Cancer Hospital to be built in Kandy. This will be done in collaboration with the Cancer Home Kandy. The aid received through sponsorship will be donated to the Cancer Hospital and to patients afflicted with cancer towards their medication and basic requirements.
We also believe that through these, we will be spreading the true spirit of scouting throughout Sri Lanka.
