A few years ago Trinity College was best known for rugger and now apart from that image for rugger it seems to be painting up a picture for cricket as well.

Trinity advanced to the semi finals of the Under 19 inter-school limited over cricket tournament with a comfortable ten wicket win over Gurukula MV Kelaniya in the quarter final encounter played at Maradana yesterday.

Gurukula MV taking first lease of the wicket were bundled out for a meager 59 with spinner Aamil Anaz doing the damage with a five wicket haul. Trinity in their run chase was steered by a quick fire unbeaten knock of 43 by Niroshan Dickwella as they needed just 5.5 overs to reach the target. Trinity will now meet the winners of the quarter final encounter between Royal and Thurstan which is scheduled to be played at Braybrooke Place today.

Gurukula MV Kelaniya 59 in 25.4 overs (Nilendra Prabath 19, Roshan Anuruddika 15: Aamil Anaz 5 for 17, Janishka Premasinghe 2 for 6, Alwin Fernando 2 for 14)

Trinity 60 for no loss in 5.5 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 43 n.o., Janishka Premasinghe 13 n.o.)
